Tierra Verde

The Tierra Verde Community, which is located on the southernmost tip of Pinellas County, is not part of any municipality. The Community is a part of unincorporated Pinellas County and is governed by Pinellas County regulations. Tierra Verde was once 15 islands covered with foliage. These islands ranged in size from only a few acres to the largest, Cabbage Key, having over 289 acres. For centuries, Indians used the islands for ceremonial and burial grounds.

Tierra Verde water view Tierra Verde is home of the #1 beach - Fort Desoto Park. Award winning Fort DeSoto features a 238-site family camping area with facilities including picnic tables, grills, water, electricity, washers, dryers, modern restrooms, showers, play areas and a camp store. On the island is an old fort complete with canons. You can take a tour through the museum and ride the ferry to Edgemont Key, a State Park and National Wildlife Refuge.
